Lowkey in concept this is what I’d imagine a Nolan horror film would be like, only, that’s just about all it really takes from him; cool poster & interesting premise aside, ‘Bilocation” is all concept, no charisma, sporting one of the dullest protagonists I’ve encountered in my J-horror journey thus far & it doesn’t help it’s plagued by fairly mediocre acting. I can appreciate it’s a honest attempt though, but ultimately this feels like a student film that’s trying a little too hard to be a Nolan film, which is ironic considering how much he takes from Asian cinema; at the end of the chamber I just find it to be a bit lifeless is all, nothing really amazing to be found in the visual or auditory presentation although what can be found is far from bad & for the most part is solid granted the budget, but man, it really is the concept that really steps it above being mid; the bilocations with their shifting eyes & smoke-like physiology makes them really a sight to behold, one which can be a bit unnerving at some points with their “more intense personalities”, their destructiveness being cause for a little therapy group filled with victims.
EDIT: I typed the review towards the middle end & the more I think about it, the more I really don’t like this movie. So I moved the rating down a star.
