I really liked how dramatic and visually gorgeous this short was. Even in his earliest works, Żuławski was already obsessed with the idea of love as something dark, decaying, and destructive. This one feels like a lush, melodramatic gothic fable.
As with his previous two shorts, I can sense his particular, almost feverish way of exploring relationships. Yet these early works still feel quite different compared to his later feature films.
