céline sciamma i love you thank you for making movies about real life shit and basically creating women.
this is a drastic switch from one french movie to another. the portrayal of women in this is so good. like the diamonds scene and the scene in the metro where theyre just singing/dancing to the wop is just so relatable. i also love that this movie opened with a scene of women playing football because thats iconic. but immediately after that scene we see the girls all walking home laughing and having a good time until they walk past a group of boys where they all fall silent. like oh that hit me like a truck. more on that, marieme/vic starts to adopt a more androgynous look where she dresses more masculine, binds her chest, and changes her hairstyle to fit into a male-dominated spaces and that also touched my soul. i definitely ended up crying at the end of the movie so thank you for that céline.
