Eight years after fleeing the Congo following his assassination of that country's minister of mining, former assassin Jim Terrier is back, suffering from PTSD and digging wells to atone for his violent past. After an attempt is made on his life, Terrier flies to London to find out who wants him dead -- and why. Terrier's search leads him to a reunion with Annie, a woman he once loved, who is now married to an oily businessman with dealings in Africa.

it really is sad that with this stacked of a cast, this is what they came up with. sean penn and javier bardem were acting circles around everyone else but it didn’t matter because of poor writing and directing

Definitely did not need to be as long as it was, but, the acting was good all around and made for an overall solid film. Needed more Idris Elba.

Sean Penn is altijd goed vind ik. Zo ook weer in deze film. Het verhaal is niet erg origineel maar de film is dankzij de acteerprestaties, mooie locaties (waar ik toevallig ook grotendeels ben geweest) en toffe actiescenes zeer zeker de moeite waard. Ik heb ervan genoten!
