Blackbird
most of blackbird's existing reviews nail this point home, but man, this movie is a lot to take in. it's not often that a film evokes such a high level of discomfort & despair from me, but that's what makes the story so effective. i wasn't the biggest fan of the pacing in this movie, and i found myself uninterested at times just because of how slowly certain scenes moved. however, i am very glad that i pushed through because this is such a worthwhile watch. the performances are hauntingly beautiful (specifically gillian's acting. she put on an award-worthy perfomance here), and the ending was heartbreakingly well-written, but i think my favorite part of this movie was the music. music is used sparingly in this film, but every choice was incredible and made the movie so much more emotive.
