A Day Off is such an interesting movie, and not just because of its backstory (I can certainly see why censors were not keen to have this hit theaters in the late 1960s). It starts in melancholy, and then Lee Man-hee drags his lead down an inky black hole that's so devastating and sticky - I kind of really, really like it.
