You can definitely see in this why Jean Harlow was such a big star during her prime. Although, my personal favorite Capra leading lady is Jean Arthur. Overall, this was fairly unremarkable. He has much better works focusing on the same themes and much better screwball, but I’d say that it’s still worth a watch for fans of Capra.

Not a great role for Jean Harlow and Loretta Young didn't have much to work with either. Robert Williams was mostly entertaining. I enjoyed the script as well, but the film as a whole is nothing special. You can see how parts of this inspired a few gags in Mr. Deeds Goes to Town.

I feel like Capra's eye for visuals really got more sophisticated here, there's some really pretty cinematography and I get why this one got the 4K treatment on the boxset. Too bad that it's also rather uninteresting despite the actors involved.

I was pretty excited going into this after finding out it was directed by Frank Capra. I’ve only seen two of his films, those being It’s a Wonderful Life and It Happened One Night. I had high hopes for Platinum Blonde and was pretty disappointed. I’ve heard Capra is pretty hit or miss and this was a clear miss. Although Jean Harlow is a fabulous actress, her, Robert Williams and Loretta Young give some pretty bland performances. It doesn’t help that it felt as if the script was lazily written. I really wish this was better than what it was.
