Kiyoshi Kurosawa has always been one of the best at depicting disillusion and alienation in my opinion. This may be his most metaphor dependent film, and I think it really helps in emphasizing the confusion the older generation has with the disillusioned youth.
The jellyfish in Bright Future is one of the best symbols I've seen in a film, due to the fact that it has the capacity to represent a multitude of different things that all make sense. Is it the youth? The protagonist? The future? Dreams? All have valid reasons to be connected to the jellyfish, as the all have similar traits, especially the capacity to cause danger.
Overall, I think this is one of Kiyoshi's most overlooked films, and it deserves more attention for it's incredible symbolism and emotion.
