A new favorite movie, wow.
Thanks again Ryosuke Hashiguchi, this is one of a masterpiece again.
For this japanuary I went safe and chose to watch my third of his movies, nonetheless I am stunned.
Hashiguchi is able to capture feelings that cannot be explained with words, feelings of people who feel lost: Naoya has long since accepted the fact that he will never be able to have children, Katsuhiro the idea that his family will not understand or accept him because of his sexual orientation, and Asako, who attempted suicide, has accepted the fact that she will never be able to have a relationship or be happy.
Heteronormativity is so fixed in our minds that we can't figure out we have free will! It's our lives! Let's choose our own family to finally feel alive, to feel like you want to wake up again the next day.

This is a true hidden gem—a human and warm movie. I love queerness so much, and this story will always be cherished and carefully preserved in my heart.
