insane movie to get assigned for a class
absolutely heart breaking film that’s not for anyone who’s extra sensitive to death/hospital care/terminal illness or the like. very good story and showcase on how medical staff makes and breaks one’s treatment experience, and the importance of humanity and dignity in medicine. with that being said i’ll never watch this again!
as much as the story is heartbreaking and moving, the production felt a bit dramatic at times. the whole thing breaks the fourth wall for the main character to narrate her own story, but sometimes this felt too silly in combination with exaggerated misbehavior by the doctors. apparently this was a play first and i’d have to think that it’s better in that format since the fourth wall feels so much more significant in a live production in my opinion
