Happy 19th Birthday to Me!
I honestly didn’t know a Charlie Brown episode could be this bad, and now I understand why I had to watch a DVD rip on YouTube instead of a restored version on Apple TV. This episode is so 90’s coded, it can be a little too much. I kid you not, half of the episode is Linus acrobatically roller skating with the funkiest, upbeat, 90s song you’ve ever heard in your life, I thought I was watching an episode of Scarred. A lot of the dialogue is unbearable and instead of a bizarre Snoopy and Woodstock subplot, it’s just Snoopy wreaking havoc in a supermarket. The only thing that saves this from being a 1/2 star is that you feel really bad for Sally, which if you can make me emotionally invested in a character, it can’t be that terrible. But I do think what would’ve made this better is if Mimi didn’t show up, Peanuts is all about learning life lessons. If Mimi doesn’t show up, Linus has to accept the love of those around him (maybe even Sally). Overall, I think I need to watch something else so this isn’t the only thing I watch on my birthday, because if so, this will not be my Best Birthday Ever.
