Most of this review is just rambling. I love Oklahoma! so much.I’ve been meaning to watch this ever since I finished Mary Rodgers’s memoir. Oklahoma! was her favorite musical her father and Oscar Hammerstein created. She went to see Hugh Jackman reprise the role of Curly and loved him. Now I trust Mary Rodgers, as she lyricsized Once Upon a Mattress, but I also wouldn’t have casted Hugh Jackman in a production of Oklahoma!. Well, to put it simply, he crushed it!

Right now my favorite “it’s a small world” fun fact is that Hugh Jackman played Curly McClain in Oklahoma! (duh) which was composed by Richard Rodgers. Richard Rodgers’ daughter was Mary Rodgers, who composed and wrote the lyrics for Once Upon a Mattress. Sutton Foster starred in the 2024 Broadway revival of Once Upon a Mattress. And Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster are rumored to be dating (I’ll say that).The best musicals can be performed in the round.

The Till I Hear You Sing melody IS stolen from Lonely Dreams and I’ll die on that hill.“ᴍᴀɴʏ ᴀ ɴᴇᴡ ᴅᴀʏ ᴡɪʟʟ ᴅᴀᴡɴ,

ᴍᴀɴʏ ᴀ ʀᴇᴅ ꜱᴜɴ ᴡɪʟʟ ꜱᴇᴛ,
ᴍᴀɴʏ ᴀ ʙʟᴜᴇ ᴍᴏᴏɴ ᴡɪʟʟ ꜱʜɪɴᴇ,

I’m counting this as a Hugh Jackman film (cause it technically is), mostly because I couldn’t find his first two films anywhere. This was decent, but I thought the reviews were kidding when they said Hugh Jackman sings to a guy about trying to get him to commit suicide. Seeing is believing I guess. 6/10
