My first Éric Rohmer film and it didn't disappoint at all.
Francois has doubts on his partner, so he decides to follow her ex-lover. His overthinking leads to a chance encounter with a charming girl. A very simple film and premise but done in a way that I have not seen before. The truth is at most times very simple, we are the ones who try to overcomplicate it. What he assumes to be love often turns into obsession.
The ending was really great.

From its stupefyingly realistic dialogue to the sheer confusion and mini shifts in the tonality of each person as they drift from defense to attack, I was glued to a Paris I’ve not been.

I see myself in Francois which is terrible but I do overthink my relationships with just about everyone and jump to bizzare conclusions about the most trivial things. regardless it's profound, fun and an intriguing watch with lots of sun.
