According to Schneemann, by using the naked body as a material for art she “exposed and confronted a social range of current cultural taboos and repressive conventions.”
This was like the opposite of body horror; body delight, body joy, body euphoria---
The eight performers, including Schneemann, rolled around in improvised movements, and were, throughout the film, covered in paint, paper, and paint brushes crawled and writhed together, playing with raw meat.
The visual gets more disturbing as it goes on, yet the performers continue to roll around in a euphoric trance.
I don't wish to write about what ideas I personally think are demonstrated through this work, I think it speaks for itself and everyone should watch it with their own open mind.
