Damn, this shit fucking rules. I mean, what the hell, dude? This crazy mystic space demon guy, Yuko Moriyama as a badass intergalactic bounty hunter, great moody lighting and fog. It's a hell of a thing they did here. Even the comic relief is good.
I like that the villain, Zeiram, has a special character design for each act of the film, plus a surprise final form, each more unsettling and grizzly than the last. The first two aren't really separate forms, he just takes his clothes off, but they still feel totally separate. The final two forms feel like nightmares inspired by Harryhausen monsters and Carpenter's The Thing respectively.
Sweaty, grimy, goopy, violent, scary, and even funny. I didn't mention it, but the soundtrack of this film is also jaw-droppingly good. What more could you possibly want?
"Now, we'll be stripped of our license."
