"I'm directing this fucking movie! I told you to stay behind the screen!"
One of the grossest movies I’ve ever seen, both in the actual content and how it all came together. I feel like I need a shower
The history behind this film is fascinating. All of the filmmakers initially using fake names for film credits. People in the 70s thought this was a real snuff film, and rightfully so, until Roger Watkins came out as the director, writer and actor. He made this with a budget of $3,000, which apparently $2,200 of that went to his methamphetamines. Like it’s actually unbelievable shit
It’s clearly shortened, dubbed like shit and there’s really no plot. There’s graphic scenes including a cow, a very realistic “surgery” scene, blackface, rape and more
I don’t think I’ll ever want to watch this movie again, but it’s really something. The odd camera angles somehow work really well. The score is very fitting. The bad dubbing is so bad that it almost adds an additional eery feeling to this. The gore is actually so nasty, it made my stomach turn. Somehow and someway, it all really works to make a nasty, uncomfortable exploitation film that is almost so gross that it’s impossible to take your eyes off of it
Also saw some reviewers bring up Manson and the time period that this came out, and it’s really something interesting to think about as well. Is this a product of its time? Or is Roger Watkins just a fucked up, drugged out, gross and smelly ball of weirdness that can oddly enough operate a camera so well? Maybe it’s both
Hated watching this so much that I appreciate it
