Genuinely so bad that it’s actually funny. Written so poorly but in a way that’s more ingenious than anything else. A poorly written movie today is just goofy, corny, or falls flat, but this was so bat shit crazy that it feels as if it made sense to whoever wrote it. There are some absolute gems in this film that no one could ever dream up if they tried. All of that said, the final shot is quite incredible and came out of nowhere. The more I think about it, this film is legitimately great in its own very quirky way.

It's a shame this is Hornisher's only feature film because there are genuinely beautiful moments in this strange mixture of showbiz- and serial killer exploitation movie. The term exploitation is only very loosely applicable though due to its slow, introspective approach to the material. It's much more an artful exploration of faded dreams in a decaying LA. It eautifully captures urban isolation and the character's loneliness. The calm cinematography and the etherial soundtrack create this dreamy and melancholic atmosphere that compassionately captures the tragedy of these characters. The movie varies somewhat in tone and quality as it does have its lengths but the elements that work about this are quite incredible and far outweigh the ones that don't. Had me almost tearing up several times. The final sex scene is incredible in how its chaotic presentation contrasts the cold methodicality of the previous intradiegetic porno shootings.

I think this film explores the exploitative and voyeuristic nature of Hollywood. It also examines how self destructive the pursuit of the arts is. It’s ending shot is particularly disturbing but in an awe inspiring way
