Resistance against occupation is always justified.

For some movies there aren't enough words to describe them, and for some there are, in a sense, infinitely many. I feel Leila and the Wolves falls in this latter category. This should be in every conversation, and how it hasn't been and isn't is a damn shame. Filmmaking at it's strongest, using writing and editing and the camera to control the gaze and capture memories in time. Never stop fighting for the people, the men, women, and children of Palestine, of Lebanon, of Iran, against the wolf that is empire, our shared enemy. I know I won't. Never forget their resilience, their resistance, the lessons of movements past. I know I can't. I pray for the fall of the US empire and the Zionist project, for peace, liberation, and self-determination for all oppressed peoples. That day will come, but only if we make it so.
I highly encourage everyone who can to answer the call for a general strike this upcoming May Day. Find an action, join an organization, weaponize our collective economic power. Starve the system which starves the world.

De base je voulais mettre en review une des nombreuses citations du films qui m’ont marqué mais lvdm j’ai tellement kiffé je doit en parler.
J’ai été complètement pris par la manière dont le film mélange fiction, archives et mémoire tout s’entrelace grave bien alors que ça pourrait être confus.
La façon dont le film redonne une place centrale aux femmes dans les luttes palestiniennes et libanaises, c’est vrm fort, en mêlant les différents ennemies des femmes palestiniennes, à savoir le patriarcat, la culture de la hchouma, l’extrémisme religieux, l’occupation britanniques puis les colons israéliens.
Visuellement, c’est souvent magnifique, avec des scènes qui restent vraiment en tête. Et même les passages plus lent, je les ai pas du tout subis au contraire, ça renforce le côté immersif.
C’est pas un film qui cherche à être confortable ou facile, mais justement, c’est ce qui le rend aussi marquant. J’ai l’impression d’avoir vu quelque chose d’assez unique.
