Fewer samurai films are being made, and the Uzumasa studio has fallen on hard times. One day, veteran "kirareyaku" (whose job it is to be felled with a sword by a film's star) actor Kamiyama is tasked with teaching sword action techniques to fledgling actress Satsuki. A few years later, the now-retired Kamiyama is visited by Satsuki, who has become a popular star.

LTEA 138 Japanese Film Lecture 3 Film 6

IDK this film is ok I get what it is trying to say and it says it in a fine way, just was not that striking or interesting to me.

My Main gripe currently is that we studied Jidaigeki which is the genre of Japanese film that included large sets and stories involving sword-fights and action. SO why did we watch this random 2014 comment on a small portion on the genre instead of the legend himself Akira Kurosawa or at least a film from the proper era.
