A stark portrayal of life among a group of heroin addicts who hang out in Needle Park in New York City. Played against this setting is a low-key love story between Bobby, a young addict and small-time hustler, and Helen, a homeless girl who finds in her relationship with Bobby the stability she craves.

You know what the best high of all is?
What is it?
Death.
Such a tragic and heartbreaking but beautiful movie. Watching it again just makes everything hit deeper, the dialogues, the reasoning behind their actions, it helps me understand this movie better, even if it makes me really sad, again I’m fascinated by this movie and I pity the fact i dont know/there isn’t a lot films like this one. Obviously it’s not perfect, but it hits where it’s supposed to. It starts in a really sweet way, but the stronger addiction gets, the more toxic and helpless the reltionship gets. It’s like a constant cycle of making up, getting high together and then arguing once it wears off. At least in my opinion i think they did have real feelings for eachother despite their behavior and I like to believe that when Bobby got out of jail and Helen was waiting for him, they started over, did it again but clean this time, both. Maybe they moved to the country side :)
