This film exceed my expectations more than maybe any film ever, let me explain. When I woke up on 28th of May I was believe it or not in Devon, I did lots of fun things like go down some huge sands dunes, anyway this doesn’t matter right now, all I wanted to get across was that today for most of the day I was quite tired, so as any film lover does on a day when they’re quite tired and they just stay at home, I watched a film and this film just so happened to be Adaptation, now I did not know anything about this film, I was just scrolling on Mubi and sore Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep, so of course I thought to my self there two great arguably exceptional actors so why not give this film a shot. Now I can finally talk about the film.

The film is very good.

self-aware but not pretentious or unfunny. relatable and so identical to social paranoia and awkwardness. the twin brother arc is so well done and nic cage probs does the best ‘twin’ acting ive seen ever done in a film. great writing and just so smart without being dicky about it

Even though I had high expectations, the story was actually really brutally written, with lots of interesting characters and beautiful scenes and all those little details. But at some point, it maybe raised more questions than it answered, especially when it comes for me to screenwriting and the secrets behind it. I immediately felt the loneliness of the main character, and later on, the sudden and long focus on the female writer didn’t really work for me. Still, the way the story mixes film and reality is done really well. I just think I was expecting a bit more
