I wanted to watch this again to see if it was as good as I remembered it and that made me realize how freaking much I love this movie. It's just so bizarre that it's good, I love it, I just love it. It's really chaotic, funny and real; the characters are so relatable, the effects are ok, not crazy looking fake but not crazy looking real, it's somewhere in between those two, but that just doesn't matter, I mean, it's a cheap movie what do you expect girl?.
The script is pretty good: there's comedy, there's gross things, there are serious real life struggles, there's love (kinda) and I like Candice a lot honestly, I want a friend like her (not including the killer side obviously).
It's really well written; the story itself, characters and message are AMAZING.
I understand why people don't like this film, they judge things like the acting (which I personally enjoyed a lot) not every movie has a Hollywood budget, sometimes you just have to see behind that to truly understand it and enjoy it. Like I've seen some Netflix movies with TERRIBLE acting, truly distracting, but people love them and don't seem to notice that, just because it's Netflix? But when they see a clearly small movie with low budget they criticize it to death, we seriously need to stop doing that and see the movie for what it is trying to give, not everyone can afford one million dollar actors.
Another thing is that they find "gross and unacceptable" cannibalism and how the movie treats topics like rape, but ma'am, that's probably how a real person would react to those things happening to them, not everything needs to be dramatic and have a moral at the ending, sometimes real is raw, and that is okay.
I really love this movie, I've seen it probably 7 times now and I just find it so comfortable to me in ways I still don't understand.
