one of the few old movies that makes you forget its old. the things its good — at writing, acting, plot are timeless. its well rounded and enjoyable and well made. i watched this a few years ago so want to rewatch and rate again when i get a chance.

this is one of those movies that you enjoy watching, and then as the days pass by, it continually pops into your head and you really start to feel something from it

purpose, freedom, and the system in which we are contained take on so many different meanings in our lives

a goat for good reason. has that princess bride X factor of a well told story within a well told story. Andy Dufresne maintains his immovable aura of tranquility from start to finish, reminds me of the Buddihst on Death Row. I wish we got to know Red better, and that he was more of a character in his own right rather than being a vehicle of adoration for our true main character Dufresne. still, there are few movies with endings as satisfying as this one. rewatched w @morgan <3
