A beautiful yet disturbing film!
The shots of nature are stunning, and the ambient soundtrack fits perfectly, heavily reminding me of Klaus Schulze and other Berlin School artists (despite the film being Japanese of course).
The pale woman manages to be unnerving yet calming, although I guess this whole film can be described as this oxymoron. The zoom ins on old statues felt incredibly bizarre, definitely captured my attention.
Overall I can say that despite being one of Matsumoto's less disturbing films, this manages to create a calming mix of sensuality and creepiness. The film experimentation creates an interesting watch, although it could have definitely been shortened by ten minutes or so.
