Imagine you’re dead, but if you could stay alive for just 12 more hours, you would meet the love of your life. What would you do? Films with unusual premises like this always fascinate me.. Just like in Heaven Can Wait, the afterlife is portrayed in black and white, quieter and more restrained, while life on Earth is colorful, noisy, and full of energy (I think there’s only about a four-year gap between the two films).. Throughout the trial, the film touches on British-American relations of the era, wars throughout history, and prejudice. Details such as the judge occasionally laughing at these conflicts as if two children were arguing, as though the countless lives lost meant nothing at all, were both amusing and painfully true.. There were many other satirical touches and jokes as well, each one surprisingly deep.. Honestly, just noticing all those details was entertaining enough to make every minute of the film worthwhile.. For me, the only flaw in this near-perfect film was the lack of chemistry between the two leads. Because of that, I couldn’t truly feel the love they were trying to prove in court.. As I sat there like a judge myself, wondering how I would rule, I kept waiting to feel something.. Also, I think the ending was far too brief.. The courtroom section was so compelling that I would have loved for it to be even longer

Heaven Can Wait filminde olduğu gibi bunda da öbür dünyayı siyah beyaz ve daha sessiz temsil ederken dünya hayatını rengarenk ve gürültülü tasvir etmişler (iki film arasında 4 yıl var sanırsam) .. Filmde dönemin İngiliz-Amerikan ilişkilerine, tarih boyu olan savaşlara, önyargılara mahkeme boyunca yer verilmesi ve yargıcın 2 çocuk kavga eder gibi sanki onca ölen hayatın hiçbir önemi olmamış gibi arada bunlara gülmesi gibi ayrıntılar (gerçekler); başka bir sürü de iğneleme ve mizah çok başarılıydı her biri de çok derindi.. Gerçekten filmi izlerken sırf o ayrıntıları görmek bile çok eğlenceliydi her dkksına da değerdi.. Benim için bu mükemmele yakın filmin tek ve tek eksiği iki karakter arasındaki kimyanın uyuşmaması sebebiyle mahkemeye kanıtlamaya çalıştıkları aşkı hissedememem, çünkü ben de bir yargıç gibi oturup nasıl yargılayacağımı düşünürken bir şeyler hissetmeyi beklemiştim ayrıca finali çok kısa tuttular bence mahkeme kısmı daha uzun olsa çok güzel olurdu
