“hey, charlie! take over for me, i gotta take a shit!”
the next entry on hooptober 12, and i was pretty excited for this one, it had the same director as ‘wizard of gore’ and both have been on my watchlist for the longest time, it was a toss up on which one i was going to include, but the cover and the title of this one really sold itself to me (plus the alternate title, blood orgy lmao) the first thing i noticed about this splatter flick, is that it just looks extremely low budget, to the point it’s the only thing i really thought of, to its erratic sound quality, cheap special effects, terrible acting, a weird black line appearing on loads of the shots. i would say this definitely adds to the so bad it’s good element lmao. the main highlight is the gore!! it’s so cartoonishly excellent. it’s no where near realistic or even disturbing, but its honestly just really nice to look at it with its really visceral, almost mashy looking blood, and it’s intense completely over the top death sequences : from a girl who completely gets her head torn apart, to a girl who gets spanked with a mallet and her breasts cut (which breast milk just squirts out) and i can’t leave out a face being burned by hot oil! the humour is dark and very eccentric. with its dry, cringe inducing broad, and intentionally tasteless humour. this is an infamous exploitation/grindhouse flick and i just love the complete trashy cheapness of this movie. it fails by all traditional standards. illogical plot, wooden acting, and it’s a little slow paced at times. but to me, this is a hidden gem within the splatter subgenre and i would totally watch this again.
