I came for (some sort of) a biopic of the underground electronic music scene in Paris during the 90’s. (I found out about this movie after hearing that it also features a very early days pre-mask Daft Punk!)
I came out of it having finished a very touching and honest movie about the ups, downs and potential self-destruction of pursuing a creative career in such a volatile industry. The end of this movie was beautifully piteous and inexplicably touching.
I got absolute chills during the scene of the house party at Thomas Bangalter’s apartment when he and Guy-Man played Da Funk for the first time ever as Daft Punk for the partygoers.
Also WHOEVER decided to play Veridis Quo over the scene where Paul finds out Cyril passed away, that was the perfect song choice and I love you.
On top of all this, the soundtrack was INCREDIBLE!!
