Ninako Kinoshita has never been in love until an encounter with the school's most popular boy, Ren Ichinose, leads the two to befriending each other. Ren's patient and kind personality is a far cry from his unapproachable idol status at school, and soon Ninako falls in love with him. Id say the series version is much better but the movie ver actually is realllll good, ay I felt like the ending was not really it since it felt kind of rushed, but at least they end up together, #justiceformyboiando , ughh I feel bad for ando , I always get the 2nd ml syndrome despite liking the main ml more

most of what i watch/read is romance and i have a special affection for shoujo/josei but when shoujo is tackled like how it is in strobe edge it feels pretty shallow and cheap to me. it didnt even have any loveable side characters we can root for which is probably my favorite part of shoujo, their lovely side character cast saving the narrative for when you find the mcs irritating.
storywise i love tangled romances but when the character exploration is flimsy like this instead of enjoying the complexities of the romance, you just get annoyed. along with that, most of the cinematic choices just does not make any sense, especially in the sound department. during the train/bubbles scene, there is a girl band on the stage. instead of making them play any song that will fit with ninoka's desperation and ren's hopelessness, they just put some fucking youtube royalty free song over it. literally why
one scene i want to point out: i gasped so hard at her crying while staring at ren through his workplace window while he's working and continuing to look at him when he noticed her???? ninoka you crazy bum ass bitch oh my god?????
lovely poster, not much else
