This was such a severely underrated classic that's easily mesmerizing from the very start, all thanks to the leads demonstrating such a lovely chemistry that is wholly endearing. It's very enjoyable and beautifully romantic just from the score, visuals, and storytelling that's undoubtedly pleasant to see.

Compelling story and characters aside, there are some utterly bonkers visual choices made here and it makes it really stand out for something that is just supposed to be a 40s Republic B-picture.

The lighting and shadow work are incredible here and Borzage does a fantastic job depicting the moralization of actions and how one is held accountable no matter the circumstances. This definitely deserves a bunch of praise for how clever and creative it gets with some of the shots, especially for the era in which it was made. Looking forward to watching more from Borzage without question.
