Started off funny as hell, especially the grumpy yakuza.
And when they reached the village, it gave me a sense of completion so when it transitioned to their next arc, the rhythm felt a bit off.
But the village is so beautiful, so dreamy. And the bit with amnesiac shen thinking he’s gay caught me off guard lol.
I get the idea of wanting to preserve a piece of heaven but in the back of my mind, I also feel that they romanticized the village too much at the expense of progress. Aren’t they just being selfish? (Personally I would gatekeep the village too)
Also this is me being petty, but them being Japanese trying to preserve a piece of China is a bit funny but not in the endearing way.
