a tough, punchy little noir that moves with real attitude. cliff robertson gives the whole thing this cold, focused edge as he works his way through a world that’s way bigger and meaner than him. sam fuller’s direction is tight and gritty, with those sudden bursts of violence he’s known for. it’s simple, rough, and hits exactly the beats it needs to. a really solid, stylish crime story.
