this movie was unbearably bland. the concept of controversial technology getting a mind of its own and seeking “life” for itself is turned into a low budget melodramatic sci-fi epic. but it’s not epic. for the first 70 mins, you’re watching a bunch of high schoolers trying to solve the mystery of an arcade game gone bad. but it’s mostly them arguing whether or not a video game is alive. you’re literally longing to see the video game world in action. and when you do get to the world of the video game, it’s the most boring video game you’ve ever played. there’s nothing imaginative about this.
