Eolomea surprised me. It's a hard-SciFi and a rather philosophical film from the DDR. It's the first science fiction film I saw from that era of East Germany and I have to say it's pretty charming. It's slow, the story is heavily based on dialogue and Cox Habbema is a great lead. She is really powerful and carries the film for quite a bit. But to be honest, the most surprising thing for me was the effects. They were pretty basic but very good and charming. The space station and the rockets had a cool design and even the moon surface looked kinda real.
