we put this on as a joke and then accidentally got invested. great thing about silent movies is that you can talk pretty much the entire time. Marie’s friend using Marie’s deadbeat boyfriend’s saxaphone as an ashtray is so chic.

Painfully slow and dull, it's not even an hour and a half, yet I had to take a break and come back and finish another day. Chaplin can do comedy and he can do drama in his comedies, but this one fell flat. Between the poor acting, the hard to follow story, and the terrible pacing, I debated never finishing it at all.
