I love old gothic horror. However, my problem with Tales of Terror lies in the ordering of each story.
“The Facts in the Case of M. Valdemar” was the weakest of the three stories, which leaves the film feeling somewhat underwhelming by the end. Building up to “The Black Cat” would have made a lot more sense.
“Morella” was my favourite of the segments. The story was quick, intense, and packed a punch. Maggie Pierce was a standout as Lenora Locke.
Overall, I enjoyed Tales of Terror. The cool colour palette and rainy atmosphere was winsome and fitting for the film’s aura.
