What makes this movie work for me is the atmosphere. Most of the movie is practically a silent movie with the 2 girls on the run and you see their friendship in the quiet without it being said. Thr music adds to the atmosphere too making it feel dreamlike. The chateu is also pretty Gothic and haunting.
The plot centers around 2 girls on the run after a murder. As they traverse the French countryside they get lost in a chateu whee a vampire and his cult seek to inniciate them.
The plot is simplistic but works because of the atmosphere and the girls. The girls are charming and likeable too. What is also pretty cool is the vampire. The vampires monologue and motivation near the end was interesting.
