I cannot put into words my experience with this movie. I felt so many emotions, I cried, I wondered, I self analyzed. As someone with a religious upbringing and someone who identifies as queer this movie made me so conflicted and genuinely feel heartbreak for the main character. It hurts worse since it’s a biography.

I was super confused as to what point the movie was gonna make when going into it but turns out it was gonna make absolutely no point and instead I have to listen to some kid behave how he wants with the excuse that this is what God is telling him to do like no bruh, half the stuff you're saying while christian is not biblical in the slightest

Nothing on this movie works. Franco was obsessed with the gay community when this movie was made. It doesn't have any depth to the story, I didn't care about Michael, I didn't feel bad/good/anything for him. The final scene was eh. It felt like Emma Roberts' character was added at the last minute even though it's based on a real story.And also I don't believe in the whole "the church made me straight" thing, so I guess I was destined to dislike the movie.
