My boyfriend, who does not know movies really at all, is obsessed with this movie. He said he’s seen it 4 times. 

I think I need to book a therapy appointment after watching that mess. But I did call out most of the artists that were playing in the soundtrack so, a win is a win.

im a sucker for rotoscoped animation, something about it scratches an itch in my brain, so i quite liked this (though it felt like it couldve used like 15 more minutes to tie up some loose ends and elaborate on a couple things)

also love that pete was straight up selling coke??? like okay sure!

I’m really not sure how to rate this. On one hand some of the animation is gorgeous. It’s legitimately a piece of art. On the other hand, the scale of what the film was trying to do was obviously too grand. The plot falls flat on its face with no real character development. The idea was there: the story of immigration, generational countercultures, and American music intertwined in a 90 minute epic. It largely failed, but it was still an enjoyable watch.
