I liked this movie. I was a fan of the narrative time jumps; they were done very well and cleverly used the dunes and certain landmarks like the palm tree. It did take me a moment when they showed the 'grandmother' again for me to realize that it was Aurea an older woman watching Maria. A little weird reading afterward that the director wrote the graphic sexual scene for his wife with another man, with his mother-in-law on set, but that's just a weird tidbit that didn't detract from the movie.
I kept thinking of the phrase from the movie "What is not Earth is sky", which really encapsulates the feeling of a Younger woman with a life to live stuck in these dunes. The music and their lack of knowledge about the outside world was really telling about how difficult it must be for them, stuck in such an expansive environment. There was nothing to interact with, they were alone.
4/5
