"His memory gradually shifted, like mist in the wind."
this review won't be that long because of how short this movie was and that i don't have much to talk about. after watching the abomination that was the norwegian wood adaptation, i decided to watch another murakami adaptation because i wanted to see a movie that could actually do his work justice like drive my car and burning. this was pretty decent, the only things keeping it back is its length. in my opinion this shouldve been longer, i wish we had time to fully develop the relationship between eiko and tony so that their emotional climax is actually sad and heartbreaking. i love the mood of this movie, i also love the way it uses very greyish, colourless shots to show its characters emotions of loneliness and distress over a period of hard times. the acting is great and it's cool knowing that the main guy in this also plays oda in yiyi and he happens to be one of my favourite things about that movie. i really want to read more of murakamis books and after reading norwegian wood im going to start reading his short stories, so im going to read the short story this is based on soon and then rewatch this. same goes for drive my car and burning ofc, i believe in murakami and those 2 movies i just mentioned were excellent. the soundtrack was fantastic, its composed by the same guy who did monster and that has one of my fav soundtracks in any movies. the ending to this movie is rlly bitter and it shows its themes of loneliness and longing for love in a great way.
decent movie
