2024 HOOPTOBER CHALLENGE DAY 18
This was a whole lotta nothing. Like this movie jumps around so much while spending too much time on one thing. Not to mention like a third of the movie doesn’t even involve the bees in any way. Like how are you going to have a movie called The Bees and not focus on THE BEES. Also quick side note, I enjoyed when they would have one shot and there’s like 30-40 bees and then the very next shot, there’s like 10,000 bees there. One last thing, you could give a million guesses as to what I’m going to see in this movie, and I never would’ve guessed that a former U.S. president would show up in this movie.

Finally the time has come. The seventh annual Hooptober has finally started and I'm really looking forward to my second year. I would like to thank Cinemonster again for bringing this event to life.
So the first film this year is "The Bees" and what can I say ... the film is incredibly boring. The premise of killer bees, as absurd as it is, is quite interesting and the film starts out quite promising. But after the first ten minutes or so, the film begins to get more boring and worse from minute to minute. The feeling never arises that the characters are really in danger and the alleged threat of these killer bees that have already destroyed most of south america is never conveyed. Between the sometimes terrible acting, John Saxon is definitely the highlight of the film, even if his character is pretty boring and, like everyone else, repeatedly contradicts himself. In the end he even starts talking to bees ... what more could you want. I also expected a little more from the kills, especially because the film repeatedly shows that the deaths can look halfway good, but 90% of deaths consist of bad actors who wave their arms around and fall to the floor.
Not the best way to start the best time of the year, but I wasn't expecting a particularly good film either.
