Not sure if I watched a edited version but seemed a bit dodgy playback wise which is a shame.
By description alone this should be one of the greatest films ever

1972 | Western

“Condenados a vivir” is one of the bleakest westerns the genre has to offer. It’s about bad people being bad people.
Plot and setting are what the child of “The Hateful Eight” and “Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead” would look like, only that this one is miles better than the latter. But it seems evident that, together with “Il grande silenzio”, this was a big influence on Tarantino’s snow western.
The score is phenomenal and quite haunting, there are some super cool shots and some awesome kills. Certainly one of the most violent westerns I’ve seen. There is quite a bit of great gore and some super cool, creative and well directed kills. I also really enjoyed the performances and liked the way the characters were written.
While almost all of the characters are truly bad people, most even utterly disgusting, I was involved. Some really good dynamics and the film makes some decisions that I didn’t except. It’s truly consequential and doesn’t take hostages. Seriously bleak and nihilistic. I love it.
“Condenados a vivir” really is a european western gem. Gritty, mean, violent and without remorse. If you like italo-westerns, you’ll like this too.
