My first Jean Rollin film and I really can’t complain. Overall a really good concept actually and definitely not badly executed by any means and it was quite a fun watch at times even, but overall it was pretty average.

Cool characters, not really memorable,

Scary Sexy: 6 Films by Jean Rollin #4

Finally watched Rollin’s most popular release (at least according to Letterboxd numbers), Fascination. I understand the popularity here, considering this might be the most straight-forward and plot-centric movie I’ve seen yet. However, despite a really strong first half, the film loses a lot of steam in the final act with the overly long party scene. It does regain some traction with a strong ending, but unfortunately the damage is already done. For those who haven’t seen any Rollin yet and are curious, I could see this or Grapes of Death being a great entry point.
