The first half of this movie is undoubtedly beautiful and sincere and there's a bit of a fall off in the back half but that doesn't stop this from being a really good movie.
It really is as simple as touch being the building block for all language and memory. Rollin does a really nice job tying this in to the more nefarious portion of the plot from the antagonist's point of view.
