Who decided Orm can kick the Justice League’s ass just as much as Darkseid did? I need to talk to them and kill them
Throne of Atlantis is just fine. I wanted a break from the Bond films and I wanted to complete the “Justice League” collection Letterboxd was showing me in my stats. Not nearly as enjoyable or interesting as Flashpoint or War. It feels so lacking of the Justice League even though they’re in majority of the runtime, they’re weaker than shit, Aquaman doesn’t even use the trident at all he’s just throwing haymakers, and for some god awful reason they made Clark and Diana have a romantic relationship even with Lois Lane in the picture.
The animation hasn’t changed though, I like how simplistic it is while looking better than some modern day animation…I’m looking at you Invincible. The Atlantis and overall ocean visuals are very unique. It’s not a rushed story, gets you from Point A to Point B in a timely manner that the other films achieve as well. Every voice fits the character, except Batman’s, he sounds a bit rough in this film. The action scenes, especially the final fight between land and sea is enjoyable as all the members get to showcase their abilities.
If this was 20 minutes longer, I think it could’ve been way better with more development of Arthur’s past and Atlantis as a whole even with the story we already have not being rushed. It’s an extremely underwhelming follow up to the amazing story that was Justice League War because it’s so hard to top Darkseid and the dynamics all the Justice League had between each other as they were all meeting for the first time. Not bad by any means, sorta rewatchable, I wouldn’t skip it if you’re thinking of watching the films from this animated universe.
Live, laugh, love…Orm’s battle suit design. You may not like it, but I liked it and I really enjoyed how he looked in the 2018 movie.
