I wasn't really sure what to expect from The Dressmaker as I haven't read the novel, and I'm not a big fan of Liam Hemsworth, but I ended up enjoying the film. I love anything related to fashion, so that aspect of the plot really resonated with me, although it was lamentably short. The murder flashbacks and eventual reveal were very interesting, but after a while it felt like they were being dragged out quite a bit, so the film felt way longer than the two hour run-time; I didn't much like any of the characters except Tilly and Molly, though, so I was pretty satisfied with how things ended up. The cinematography was decent overall, but not anything exceptional, although I did very much like some of the wide shots covering the town landscape, as well as the soundtrack. Kate Winslet was brilliant as Tilly, and I also liked Hugo Weaving's performance as Sergeant Farrat; the rest of the cast were good, too, even though they had smaller roles, especially Alison Whyte. On the whole, not a bad watch by any means, and I definitely need to check out the book this is based on and its sequel.
