WHAT THE FUCK? John Carpenter’s contribution to the anthology series Masters of Horror is kinda low quality but was chock full of some real shocking shit. The episode is less concerned with the abortion debate itself, opting to make what others aptly describe as Rosemary’s Baby meets Assault on Precinct 13. Me thinks Mr Carpenter enjoys the setting of a siege!

I’m going to see the big man in concert this Friday. A video’s been making the rounds of him shit talking The Substance and, as much as I love the guy, it’s important to remember he has had his misfires.
The lighting, abhorrent CGI, aintitcoolnews writing (and don’t think I’m fond of the writing in the Sinisters/Black Phones), and oh yeah the fact that this is an anti-choice polemic really hold it back from being a series favorite. Like Mick wanted to provide equal time after Imprint. Let’s get Carpenter to sleepwalk through a siege with a Thing head.

Jesus Was a Cross Maker
Deeply offensive on almost every level. A piece that has absolutely nothing to say and the things it accidentally says are troubling. The type of thing 80s Carpenter, and even 90s Carpenter to an extent, would have been ashamed of. Unworthy of almost any note.
Still offends me less than Saltburn though.

It’s such a mess. It’s supposed to be about abortion but it just leaves me dumbfounded regarding what was it actually has to say? And any semblance of the theme is just thrown out of the window when we get to the CGI monster shit. I guess Ron Pearlman is good in it? That’s all the compliments I have. Unfortunate considering how I love Carpenter and loved Cigarette Burns.
