Probably the most anticipated movie of all time or close to it and with all that hype around it, I am pleased to say it really didn’t disappoint. I remember when this came out, the talk about no spoilers allowed was insane, it was even more difficult for me because I worked at a theater and got to watch it a week early. I held so much power over people with the spoilers, I was like Thanos. Getting to the actual review portion of it, I will admit that on a few rewatches, it does lose a bit of its hype but it’s still an all time great modern film. The flaws are definitely more prevalent with time though. I’m a huge hater of multiverses and time travel, it always opens too big of a can of worms when it comes to continuity errors and plot holes. They tried their best to cover their bases but it’s still a bit choppy. My other major problem with Endgame is captain marvel, God I hate her character. The end battle was so phenomenal until she showed up, they use her as this undefeatable being that sees saving the universe more as a chore. She fights like she’s bored to be there and is a pretty insufferable character anyways. she takes the suspense of the chance of the avengers losing away. She’s a suspense ruiner and always feels like she could win without trying, fuck I hate her character. I also don’t know if it’s just me being misogynistic or something but the whole only girls part of the fight seemed a bit forced and dumb. Like you’re trying a bit too hard now. The film can also be a bit slow when they’re collecting the infinity stones. I’m also a tad confused with how nebulas minds got intermixed, seemed convenient for the sake of the plot. Anyways, onto the good. The ending is a real tear jerker, I feel like I can pinpoint my first time watching this being the exact place and time I lost my childhood. The deaths to some of the original avengers was heartbreaking. I loved how they wrapped up captain Americas story as well, I phenomenal send off. The fight scenes were explosive and phenomenal as per usual for big budget marvel films, the hype around Cap wielding the hammer in the theaters were crazy. You could hear the people going ballistic all the way in the snack bar. There’s some other good parts in the film but the ending is what really made the film. I’m a firm believer that they should’ve put the MCU to rest when they put Ironman to rest but they’ll keep on milking it until there’s nothing left. Great movie, great ending , will watch again.
