"The hardest choices require the strongest of wills."
The story is a truly great one, and I love that the heroes actually lose for once - I feel like that doesn't happen ofter enough. I remember seeing this movie for the first time in cinemas when it first came out, and it was unbelievably shocking. The most powerfull part was easily the dusting. Seeing so many beloved characters die, back to back, is so saddening.
Visually, this film holds up very well. The settings are beautiful, most notably Wakanda. Plus, the CGI is generally very good throughout, which is always important for immersion.
I like how the heroes are split into a few groups throughout as it allows for each hero to have a good showcase in action, without the scenes being overly cluttered. I'm glad they did it this way, and I hope they do something similar in Avengers: Doomsday, and then bring everyone together for a huge final battle - like in Avengers: Endgame.
The clashing between Tony Stark and Doctor strange in the earlier scene on the spaceship was interesting to watch, primarily because both of them are such incredibly similar characters, fueled by ego. This made for a dynamic which came across well on screen.
The Battle of Wakanda was so cool and honestly one the best large-scale battle I have ever seen in a movie. Although I feel like there should've been at list one signifigant hero death actually during the battle. Oh, and Quill ruining everything and stopping them from killing Thanos was so irritating, but in a good way, because it was great for the story.
Also I need to address something. So many people say the thing that I just said had to happen, because of the '1 in 14,000,605' realities where they win, but people need to remember that there are infinite realities, Strange just only was able to see 14 million of them. So, basically, Quill did still screw it up, and they could've won even with that happening.
Thanos, shattering straight through the mirror dimension was a cool, visual demonstration of Thanos' strength, and that whole fight with Doctor Strange on Titan was just awesome.
I think a lot of characters were at the coolest ever point in this film, especially Thor, who has never been as strong or good-looking up until now. In a similar vein, Thanos was also a truly menacing villian who came across very well on screen. Marvel has previously had the occasional villian who just did not work in a movie. It's easy to say Thanos is not one of them - he has now become of the most iconic villans of all time.
Naturally, being a comic book movie, there are some plot-holes, which I won't go into great detail about as I feel it's not really relevant to the overall enjoyment of the film - but moreso for the nerds like me that like to over-examine certain things. I always wonder why Thanos took off his amour so early on, and then proceeded to never put it back on again.
Avengers: Infinity War is exactly what an Avengers film should be.
