An early adaptation of the island of doctor moreau that puts more emphasis on the horror and it's pretty entertaining. I like the creature design and doctor moreau is a good villian. The characters are entertaining enough but not very memorable. I haven't seen all the adaptations but I do like that this is a more horror than philosophical. It may be a older movie but it's still pretty entertaining.

Probably more 4.25/10 but this was a decent film. It definitely has a horror gothic like atmosphere that works. And honestly the makeup design is amazing for the creatures. I didn't even recognise Bela Lugosi underneath all that makeup. I imagine that this film was somewhat controversial at the time especially due to some of the more frank themes especially with Lota dressed in very skimpy outfits. Honestly Charles Laughton made this film amazing though. His acting is just so maniacally evil. A decent film not my favourite but I could see why it's a classic.
